Wow, what a neat little bar & club area. The light fixture in the middle is awesome & colors of this place are interesting, I bet this was a nice place to hang out in the days this resort hotel was open.

A tap bell is used for communication, the same as you would see on a hotel's front desk. For years modern (day) health facilities now have electric call lights in all patient's rooms, to call a nurse. During the earlier years of this facilities existence, I'm sure the tap bell was the main source for calling a nurse. Though today the bells are still widely used by patients who may have trouble speaking, low mobility or who is outside of their room away from the more modern convenience of a call light. TB patients were often left to sun in areas of the hospital out side of their rooms.

I was a student nurse from SUNY Farmingdale and spent 6weeks rotating through Pilgrim . My experiences there made me the person and nurse I am today! What a place of history intrigue & education!

My wife's great aunt used to work here as a nurse when it was a sanitarium. She said that it was a beautiful building but in her words they did "horrific things to the patients" as treatments. She didn't give me much information about what they did. Her children (now in their 70's) worked there when it was a resort for the wealthy. They said that they had many good times there and it was a wonderful place to work. He spoke of hosting camping/hiking excursions, horseback riding, and other things. Too bad it didn't survive as a resort. It would have been beautiful.

to Melli3322. The pillars look different to me too. The original pillars have grooves and the new picture has flat sided octagonal pillars. Otherwise the room looks the same. Interesting.

On the floor that the stairs are leading too was the room for the provincial when he visited once or twice during the year. It was more like a suite with a bedroom and parlor. Also during the years 65-69 Fr. Earl Bissonnette had his bedroom on this floor. Brother Benny also slept in the mansion do not remember where his room was. Joe the barber also slept in mansion along with Bill the recovered alcoholic who tidyed up the mansion. Now Fr. Earl, Brother Benny, Bill and not sure about Joe eventually Bro Joe rest in the cemetary.
