I can't decide if I love or hate the architecture of this building. I see elements of beauty, but overall it is a rather scary looking building. A very intriguing place!

Wow, what a room & the stained glass dome in the ceiling is awesome. I hope that stained glass dome can be saved & reused in another place, as not saving it would be a huge waste.

@Irina Unfortunately my dear, The 'Byberry Era ended for good in the fall of '06. After the unstoppable force known as 'progress' claimed yet another important piece of American history, and probably one of the most famous, or infamous Urban-Explorer's paradise. From what I heard, the property was razed and redeveloped into a retirement community. I wonder how many of the old folks currently living there, if any, are plagued by the supposed-phantoms that roamed the forgotten halls of the old Philadelphia State Hospital. In the paranormal-enthusiasts community, we believe when certain locations, that may have once housed the spirits of those past on, are demolished, and new structures are built over the grounds. These 'energies' are not destroyed, they remain, possibly becoming unwanted 'tenants' of the new buildings. It would be interesting to talk to some of those people, and get their stories, or even find out if they know the history of the grounds and land upon which their new 'houses' sit.

My family believed one of my sisters birthdays was in October and it wasn't until years after my mother died and we went through old records that we actually found out my sisters birthday was September, a month before. So my mother obviously got pregnant before getting married but because back then it was such a big deal and women were ridiculed, she lied to everyone and falsified documents to make it appear the baby was born nine months after she got married.
