Margie,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I walk my dog through the park that is now there. I wanted to look up the history because I could feel a presence and it peaked my curiosity. Your brother is still in that school and I’m pretty sure he’s not the only spirit there. What was his name if you don’t mind me asking?
I went here to school, chapel, and camp throughout a 3 year timeframe ('81-'84), attended Camp Salesian, learned to swim, remember 'The Hike with Father Mike, fishing & frogging, even our boating song.

I enjoyed everything about my attendance here, and am appalled that this building I am seriously attached to is going to be Destroyed, You people Waste History!
I'm a slightly famous, Very well-known psychic medium/Universal Oracle using TikTok's platform to help people acquire closure through.
I'd love to return at least one time before it is gone to see what I feel but I'm too far away now.
What a sham.

I used to live across from the whole park for eight years in the big green old house but recently moved to Hamptonburgh in 2015. I loved the entire grounds of the property. I am only 13 so I was not here to see the mansion but I always rode my bike and walked my dog around the entire park! I love that school building so much. It was a piece of my childhood. I really hope they restore it. I was actually just there 20 minutes ago! Anyways, I just really like the building.

I attended school here in 1968 as a high school junior considering becoming a Salesian priest after 7 years attending Salesian sleep-away camp from 1959 to 1965 followed by working at the camp in 1966 & 1967.
Some of my happiest years were spent at Camp Don Bosco and the one year I spent at the junior seminary in Goshen with excellent teachers and other students also positively influenced in their lives by the famous charism of the brothers and priests of Saint John Bosco. Alas, chastity (an unnecessary vow if there ever was one, not something Jesus called for and in my opinion the single most important reason why vocations are way down and there’s a higher proportion of child molesters than in the general population) wasn’t for me, so I left. Unfortunately the Salesian’s have had their fair share of these misfits who have adversely affected some young people so profoundly but thank God the vast majority perform and conduct great work around the world today. When the Salesian’s finally sold the facility because of lack of vocations they were actually swindled which also added to the demise of the property. Such a shame, but the seminary overall produced hundreds who did (and still) do excellent work in the world. I loved the place and will always have fond memories of my time there. To me and many others it will always be hallowed ground.

Such a beautiful place. It's a shame it has wasted away. I can imagine it filled with children and prayer
Please call my law office at 845-294-2616 if you have information about sexual abuse of boys at Salesian Seminary in Goshen, NY when it was a residential summer camp in the 1960s or 70s.
I attended this school from 1965 to 1968. Each summer my mother would send me there. I learned many things there. The priests there taught young boys swimming, basketball, baseball, camping, horse riding, fishing, mass, and praying. Inappropriate interaction between the priests and the boys was happening then. My mother elected to stop sending me there.
I attended the school in the 60's I learned how to swim there, horse back ride, camp, play basketball, baseball, pray, and many other things. Brother Tom was there then. Things began to be stance at that time. I feel fortunate not to have been one of the victims. Although advances and inappropriate things were happening then to me. I told my mother about this and she stopped sending me there. I must of spent the summers there from 1965 thru 1968.
I remember that cork board, it was the only place to get any info on the outside world. I also remember you, we played Varsity baseball together, you were the starting catcher and if I remember correctly you hit one of the longest homeruns on our field that year. Recently, I took my two children up for a visit and it was sad to see the facility, but it was nice to visit the cemetery and pay my respects to Fr.s Earl and Kita.

dodgeball was great, everyday after lunch. and great when it rained. I was just thinking about British Bulldog a couple weeks ago, and how they'd never get away with playing that these days.

Bill S. I was there for the early 80's as camper and then also counselor, I remember that incident well. I have very fond memories of this place and made many good friends, that mostly I have lost track of, but those were great days growing up!
