And now Italian Clearance - with some new Google Earth Event, most awesome picture, all angles, of this quite handsome square mansion freed of some greenery vegetation, and the huge holes in the roof distinctly visible.
Thank you so much for The Map also = beautiful + helpful and
- Fun Every Day is just the first word.
May you always be well Mr. M.
Loved these photos! Grew up my entire childhood down the street from this place and spent much time as kids/teens running around on that property. We used to go into the servants house next door. It was not secured and the mausoleum also. I had never gone inside the school. The mansion had a store on the first floor for several years where one could buy Mass cards and other religious items. Had never seen the rest of the mansion though. I was sickened when that mansion was torn down!
Tom, I am the leader of a band from Louisiana (Bas Clas) and we are getting ready to release another of our independently produced CDs. Would you consider giving us permission to use this image as the basis for our front cover. If you're interested, let me know how we can communicate privately regarding this idea. Thanks.
The area North of St. Johnland (formerly the Veterans treatment center) is a public park, so it's definitely legal to wander there. Here, along the boulevard, was always off limits back in the day, but it seems like there's no more security or police patrols when I last visited a few months ago. People were parking in front of this building and walking pretty much everywhere.
I can tell you the place is accelerating in decay. What was some what stable in 2014 is now quite risky. As of July 2015 I notice some clean up with bobcats to entrance to power building.
Yeah - thank you so much, lpn! How nice of you.
Some of the pictures......have no words. That building....!!!!!
I always have to check on Bennett School for Girls at Google Earth expecting the worst.....her gone....gone....but she is still there.
So......how could the building possibly be saved now????
