I was a patient between 1964 and 1969. I use to ride around on a board with wheels on my belly down the halls. I had hip issues and underwent allot of operations, casts, traction your name it......I did get to meet the Governor and his wife and had our picture together in the newspaper. I am able to walk/run thanks to this hospital......sad to see it like this. what happened to all the ramps everywhere I didn't see any pictures of those....

Lived in that area growing up. Was told that the hospital would burned bodies. Is this true?

@Matt It's been a while since I was over here last, but I haven't heard of it being torn down or anything. It is an incredible place.

Sure no problem, thanks for asking!

It's a cover for the ventilation shaft that provided heat/fresh air into the room. These needed to be well-secured, as patients have died in similar types of hospitals by crawling into them and getting stuck.

This room makes me wonder what the average length of stay was.

I'm just wondering how you were able to get a picture of my living room without me knowing it. lol

Interesting that the window pains on the floor seem so much smaller than the wall windows, knowing that they are the same size in actuality. I can't help but see symbolism here. Great photography.

Maybe they are some kind of lighting rather than heating units. These photos are stunning. I never knew that mold and peeling paint could be so beautiful and would move me in such a way. It's as if the building is now as broken as it's former inhabitants. Please keep up the good work.
I was in Barry Rogers' class. Many memories of walking through the lovely campus. Have my '61 graduation pictures showing me w our Principal, Mother McGowan in front of the main steps. After graduating, came back in 1964, portraying Richard Nixon in a mock debate in front of the girls in some auditorium. I went to Holy Ghost and was not used to being around that must estrogen.
