290 Comments for Westborough State Hospital

I did chaplaincy training one summer there. I lived in the dorms and watched Red Sox baseball with Joe and his girlfriend. On weekends, I ate in the cafeteria with the clients. I played basketball and went into Westboro for a beer on Thursday nights. I remember some of the patients and staff well. We should have a reunion!

Thanks Cameron, it sure looked like a steam connection but I've never seen a ceiling unit like that.

They used the same system at Western State Hospital, but by the time you got to it, that whole system had been removed.

Hot air would've been piped away from the steam boilers on site. The black circular thing you see would've diffused the heat to disperse it evenly in the room.

Hey Flushed...I know this is late but I hope you see it. I don't get on this site as often as I used to due to work. I've talked to you outside this forum, I don't know if you remember me or not but your story is fascinating. You should write your story yourself and publish it, why let someone else do it? Life stories like yours practically write themselves. If you don't like the actual task of writing or typing there's a computer program called Dragon that you wear a headset and just talk and the computer types out what you say. I have this because I was writing a lot and it was easier talking than typing. Anyway, let me know if you do this, I'll be the first one to buy a copy.

I'm impressed. The room is very clean and that couch looks to be in good condition still. Great photo.
bob - movers had amazing skills back in the days. Strong muscles, slings and endurance, and they did their math well. We have furniture here in my old house; big heavy closets from the 50 - 60-ties, I stand and stare at them awe and wonder: "How DID they get this in here + up those stairs?" HOW?

I had to double take at the outdoor photos because it looks so much like the Medfield State Hospital complex. I go there occasionally since the grounds are a city park now.

I wonder how they got piano in there to begin with since there were no elevators?
