Was that a sliding gate recessed into the wall? Looks like they could secure the stairs which would explain the robust and decorative metalwork on the side.

this is a box sealer. you fill the glass bottle with water, set the tape length with the meter and pull the crank, it spits out tape with glue on it for sealing packing boxes :)

You can get a Posey jacket on the website if you can provide proof that your a magician or you can always go through a professional registered magic dealer.
Jackets like those are meant for people who are a danger to themselves and others and serve good purpose.
Being an escape artist I studied different designs and models of new and old jackets.
The Posey is usually the hardest to get out of.
My personal record is 45 seconds.

Okay folks. It's settled. This is a tape dispenser. Not to be confused with an infamous soap dispenser.

Never to downplay Mott's talent or this site I can't get enough of, but for more of Detroit you can take a look at forgottendetroit.com The content hasn't been updated in a while (and a couple of the buildings have since been restored) but it covers some amazing buildings and several theatres which are one of my passions. The site isn't mine and I don't have anything to do with it.

That would be neat to see in the winter when it's frozen solid. That freeze/that cycle must be brutal on the foundation.

It looks like the ceiling once had stick on acoustic tiles but they have all fallen off. There isn't any debris on the files though so it must have happened earlier. Strange.

The two-tone effect is likely the result of the metal inside the concrete being near or at the surface of the point. This would be similar to what happens on the north side of a roof below the vent pipes. The residue from the metal flowing down kills the fungus that causes the black stains. Zinc is particularly efficient at doing this and keeping a shingle roof from turning black.

I think Ellen is relatively safe from any bad luck at this point. She can take her chances without much worry.
