nvusofmotts - You have me rolling....I can't stop thinking that phrase now!

I'm guessing that this room was a foyer / entrance to a suite or larger room. If you look closely at the open door, it looks like a room number - 7?5 (couldn't quite make out the middle digit).
WOW 30 years! I can only imagine the stories you can tell. Personally, I would love to hear them -

I lived in Newington from 65-74 and vividly remember the drive in and the lights on the sign as we came up to the intersection. Wonderful memories!
These wards have been razed. So sad, now just a condo complex.
I grew up near Glenn Dale & hung out in the Heights & on Sunday's we'd go onto the hospital grounds when it was open, friends would play football back in the back near the adult bldg. My husband also grew up near Glenn Dale & knew of the place too. I suppose our talking about it sparked a curiosity, our daughter went once, took pictures & all was fine. Now last weekend our son who just turned 18 went with a friend & they got caught. They actually were not in the buildings but just on the grounds. He said a helicopter was flying over them, a cop came up with gun drawn, scared the crap out of them. They were respectful to the cops, they were searched & asked questions & was issued a trespassing citation, no court date on it nor fine, but on the back said he would be sent a court date. Looked up online & the penalty is 90 days or $500 fine or both. It's not worth it, our son now will have a charge against him for what, seeing an old building that's falling apart.

This was the gym. There was a permanent basket on one end and movable basket attached to the stage. There was also a movie screen on the stage along with free weights.

Hate to repeat myself but it's like looking at the Titanic at the bottom of the ocean. This is just a terrible thing to see.

Jim Foley, I was the only other guy that came over from Eymard when it closed. Those grounds are still maintained. This is an incredible shame. The school was not for me but it was a proud institution at one time.
