@Iceberg
Not in Six Flags/ other amusement parks. A lot of CRT monitors are still used for security footage with the computer- which I presume is what they used it for here. Pretty useless stuff even in 2005 though. And now probably really useless. The flood waters probably ruined everything.
I grew up in this parish and have so many wonderful memories of events held in Transfiguration. I sat in her pews each Sunday and Holy Day at a time when families worshiped together in respect and awe. I received my Holy Communion and Confirmation at the altar and walked down the aisle at my sister's wedding. It was a fairy tale kind of day!
When my family moved away, I knew that Transy was going to be at the top of my list of things that I knew I would never experience the likes of again. I was right!
They may have destroyed the building (and that is a terrible disgrace), but they can never destroy the legacy that was instilled in my heart and memory.
not much difference but everYtime after i leave the old girl falls apart - not going in Oct but headed to Ireland and Scotland where there are REAL castles nice hearing from ya Stax
No problem, thanks for lashing out at me and not Herbert Heiden or any of the people who managed this property when it closed and carelessly left all those records behind.
By the way, I'm sure phone books in 1980 also contained these people's name, home address and phone number.
@Susan I hope someone with an art degree could appreciate that others see beauty in a decaying landscape. But then again, maybe that's why you wipe your ass with it?
Thanks for expressing your narrow-minded opinions in the most condescending way possible. Which reminds me, you know what they say about opinions, how everyone's got one...
Thanks JohnBuff, I know what you mean, I've found a wreck on my own up here in Michigan and it's fascinating.
James River Fleet sounds amazing but those ships are so large I would need some certainty that there's a ladder to climb somewhere before making the trek!
Have you dived Mallows Bay? The ships are pretty far gone but still looks interesting, and not too far away from you.

This is the stage I stood on and forgot what I was supposed to say! That was about 1954! I went to Horace Mann from kindergarten to mid seventh grade. We moved in 1958. I became a polio Pioneer on the playground here for Dr. Saulk. Lots of memories!
Love your opening narrative. I haven't been to your site for many weeks since I was laid off post 'holidays' by the new tyrant in the company. 8+ years - gone.
