It appears that they were learning about 3D shapes right before the school closed or sometime close before that
I went to Horace Mann...started kindergarten in 1951, and went through 7th grade. It’s so interesting to see all of these pictures. Thank you!!!
I went to Horace Mann in 1952 after the the great KC flood. We had moved to the city from the farm. My teacher was either Ms Lawrence or Ms Florence. I attended 1st grade -6th grade. I was the first girl to play in the All Star baseball game, a bit of a tomboy & shortage of boys. I remember the YoYo experts that would come to our playground & show how to do the tricks like "walk the dog". We moved, I went to Frances Willard then on to Paseo High. Great to see this pic. I remember a Judy (Walker ?)that had several brothers & Heather ( 6th grade) from Equador or Trinidad. Her father was a missionary. I am now 72.
Thank you for the gallery Motts...brings back some good memories.
I remember the ropes...I could never climb them no matter how hard I tried.
This is the stage I stood on and forgot what I was supposed to say! That was about 1954! I went to Horace Mann from kindergarten to mid seventh grade. We moved in 1958. I became a polio Pioneer on the playground here for Dr. Saulk. Lots of memories!

I used to live near there after it was derelict. In answer to people's questions, the flag is Lutheran.

@N - People of all ages are abandoning literature. Actual bookstores are going out of business all over - my homecity lost 3 of them in the past few years and the city library has a sale every week trying to get rid of overflow. Fairly likely they couldn't find any individual or store that wanted that many old books! But I agree its sad!

@ Madison - I believe I see verse numbers, possibly the book of James.
Tastes like chicken - honest!
Feather, I'm with you and I don't even study biology! I would love to have had that baby piggy in a jar, just for a conversation piece. Probably wouldn't keep it in the kitchen though!
