Hi there! I have an T10 style upright picker x-ray fluoroscopy machine. I cannot find any Info on this machine. The coloring is a speckeled green. It looks like a huge green refrigerator with an arm that pulls out and can be raised or lowered and it looks really cool. The serial # is 1212, and it says Waite Mfg. Div. INC. If you have any knowledge of these machines please contact me at tiki_lous@yahoo.com I would love to talk about repairing it and the possible value! I also have the bulb to go with it!

hello wanderer, staxman, and all. I agree the whole underground
haunt buster thing has gone wildly pop and mainstream, on the
TV they have Celebrity Ghost Sightings. The one episode i
managed to giggle my way through featured a haunted music studio
with the erstwhile drummer from Guns & Roses. The West Hollywood
Cocaine Ghosts of Matt Sorum. ok....whatever...

But unlike so many other things that get trended out to death, i think
people's attraction to ghostly phenomena, real, imagined, or
manufactured, is still a very cool, pure, and ingrained imperative,
especially for young people. The crucial aspect of it all for me is the
central notion of PLACE in the concept of haunting. It is haunted
Houses, Haunted Castles,and the like, that predominate people's
ruminations and explorations of the subject, which would otherwise
be intangibly boring to anyone so interested.

It is LOCATION and a sense of PLACE then, that form a large part
of people's obsession with ghosts. And in an even Meta-Metaphorical
way, the concept of a ghost, tied to a location even after death,
conflicted about it's place between life and death, is itself illustrative
of the psychological underpinnings of our collective ideas about the
supernatural.

Or maybe I'm full of %^&, I don't know!

The popular identification with the subject inevitably intersects with
buildings and history, and so that is a real great thing i think. I don't
really know what i believe. I am a wildly skeptical person [ya think?
lol!] but I have a very open mind about metaphysics, the afterlife etc.

But Halcyon Hall haunted? Maybe.

Actually I have a haunted television, Totally true. My friend sold it to me,
he got it used. My television turns on by itself. That;s right. But only
when I have had on Turner Classic Movies, or the History Channel,
or the Military Channel. Nevermind that's about the only thing I probably watch anyway, [besides Celebrity Ghost Stories, of course!!!] but
usually it is some noir black and white thing, and always between three and four AM. It is sometimes disconcerting to be awakened to
a Raymond Chandler style argument out in my living room, ready to get freakin whacked
out by Humphry Bogart in my home for no reason at all at four in
the morning,but,,,. yeah....
And I'm being funny and all, but I am totally serious. this TV is like
some 1940's Edward Hopper-esque window from the WWII era.
I have changed the box, setup, etc and this thing is crazy, for real.
But I don't really watch much TV, so.....

So objects can be haunted, too?
Haunted is technically an adjective, but to me is more about the
nouns: people, places, things.
ok, i have to go watch some TV, heh heh......have a great summer,

I am a paranormal investigator. I will tell you this, anytime you have a place such as this that has had a lot of deaths and negative things happen there (I'm not saying everything that happened there was negative), you are absolutely going to have some spirits that will linger for whatever reason. Residual energy is paranormal energy that is trapped in the environment in which it occurred. "Intelligent" spirits can actually communicate with you, such as touching you or moving objects.

Just because you have not seen a ghost or experienced anything paranormal does not mean it isn't there! Take a digital voice recorder, sit down and be quiet and ask questions. Go back and listen with good quality headphones, I can pretty much guarantee you will get responses to your questions. You cannot hear or experience anything if you're running around, screaming and playing pranks on each other. True investigation requires patience and being quiet. You're not going to see something every 5 minutes like they show on TV.

I live in Maryland and i actually visited this hospital with a group of friends. It was a very dark path leading up to the hospital and very creepy and quiet. When we finally reached the hospital it was just very dark and earie. I have been to alot of abandoned places but for some reason i just didnt like the feeling i got there. And the one building we went to the very top floor and it was soooo hot on that floor and none of us knew why..it was fall so it wasnt hot outside. And we heard alot of noises as well...didnt see anything but it just felt like something was there.

Although this photo is awesome as all of them are, I'm more amazed that people are still leaving comments seven years after it was first posted! The sign of pure genuis, Mr. Motts!!

Back in January, 1973, I was in nursing school, and our class took a field trip out to Western State School and Hospital. Therefore, I've been trying to find out something about it.
I was surprised to hear that it was demolished.

Should have left the building alone. Would have made a better museum or place for paranormal investigators to pay to come investigate, like Waverly Hills Sanitorium. Now they are suffering the consequences of messing with history.

Very "Cuckoo's Nest"-esque, indeed.
