We lived just over the line in CT and would go up there frequently during the summer and have the chowder and clamcakes. Then go off into the park. It is so sad ( and intriguing) to see this pictures. Is the shore dinner hall still standing?

Wow, that's a really long sentence. My brain ran out of breath reading it. Also that girl that was scalped by an amusement ride at Bonkers 19 indoor amusement park at the Harborlight Mall in Weymouth, Massachusetts. It was also a Mini-Himalaya that caused the injury and not a falling elevator styled ride.

that story about the guy being cut inhalf is weird cause we were going to sneak in one night and we were all sitting on the top of the sky linerright under the back weel, ya i heard a story that there was a hellevator type ride in the park and it went up and a girls hair got caught on the top and it droped and tore here hair out practicly skalping here and thats why they closed cause she sued and they went bankrupt i dont beleive it but its just something i heard and i was wondering if anyone else had

I knew craig just from being one of those pathetic stoned kids who hung out at the park in the summer for lack of anything better to do...lol.
thant and my lifelong philosophy of ALWAYS talking to strangers (my parents tried...they really did...)
but yeah-
so i don't have big hair....though the city i'm from is known for it...
knew craig from chatting with people who worked there....
and thought it was a great place to work when i worked there later on...though the pay wiked sucked..... but the perks were great!!

stuff like this ALWAYS snuck through the culture of the late 70's, kids were allowed to use their imagination back then. mom and dad actually didn't intefere with ther kids' fantasy lives as much. usually batshit crazy stuff like this doesn't survive this long!

what happen to this place

Rocky Point Park was the second oldest amusement park in America. It is a damn shame they let it go. Basically the park was a victim of bad management. They ran her into the ground. This park was th bomb for over 100 years. The last five or six years the park started to die and the last owners let it go. Poor management and a lack of pride. I think they were planning on selling the land to developers for big bucks.

Rocky point Park first opened in 1847, she was the pride of Rhode Island back in the day. A sad loss for Rhode islanders...
