Wow. It's in really good shape.

Too bad it closed down, especially since it was bad management.

Would've been totally awesome.

I tpp worked at Rocky Point on two separate occasions. Once for the park (food concessions) & the second was for a dance company that put on shows. I did the tech not the dancing, thank God. The ride that you had to steer was called the Enterprise and was right in front of the Arcade. Just as a side note, I saw my first concert there. It was The Fixx. I'm really dating myself here. I loved that park. I just wish that there was a park like that where my kids could go on a weekend night and I wouldn't have to drive for over an hour. Thanks for the memories.

This picture reminded me that there is a place like this somewhere out here (san diego) i passed it once on the freeway. I love going to places like this. Its kinda scary in an old abandoned kinda way.

I love the pictures,.
No Nancy, thank YOU!
I'm going to goole to check out those murders right now, it sounds really interesting in a dark sort of way.
Something simeral happened to a park in New Jersey in the 1980s. They closed it down due to gang violence and murders. I don't remember it's name though.
Anyway thanks for the info. :-)

There was an old amusement park near where I used to live that closed about 1965, I believe. It was called Dreamland Park; don't kmow if anyone's heard of it. Amurder took place there in 1969 and they now have a book out called The Dreamland Park Murders. I took pictures of the abandoned park about 13 years ago and I'm glad I did because most of the buildings that were standing have collapsed now. So it's really really great that Motts is taking these photos now. Thanks, Motts.

LOVE OLD AMUSEMENT PARK!!!!!!!ESPECIALLY ABANDONED ONE!!
LOL the creature form the black lagoon! It sounds funny but when my dad was growing up in Ireland in the 1950s he got really scared by that film when it came to the local cinema. He wouldn't go fishing for a month!
Oh well I guess the scary movies of yesterday seem funny by today's standards.
This looked like a really cool place to explore, it didn't look like that scary of a haunted house though.
Has anyone heard about that haunted house in Japan that is a walk through in the theme of a hospital? They say it's so scary people have had heart attacks walking through it. I wonder if they got any ideas from some of the hospital shots on this site. ;-)
As an artist I have to say I love both the shot and the colors on the top of the carousel. :-)
