I lived in Bay Shore LI and remember seeing those ole stacks everyday. I didn't know what they were for but they scared me with thoughts of cremation. Too many monster movies as a kid I guess
Thats fucked up !!

I had an aunt who lived as a patient at Pilgrim. Every other Sunday after
church, my parents would make the drive out to PSH so my mother could visit her aunt Nancy. She was on the 5th floor of a building and my father
would drop my mother off because children were not permitted as
visitors. Occasionally, Aunt Nancy would wave to us but that's as close as my sister and I ever got to her.We were never told why she was there
but we were told that her sister had her "comitted" for some reason.
Aunt Nancy died there in 1965 and is buried somewhere on the grounds.

How could that machine still be there in 2008? Demoliton of different buildings was done by then right? That is quite a collectible if someone were able to get it off the property.

My Grandmother was the chief of medicine and surgery here for something like 30 years. My Dad used to take my Brother and myself to visit her at work sometimes - and we had to walk down a hallway like this... unsettling to a pre-teen, suffice to say...
