i have just came out of a mental health centre it is now un pc to say asylum in new zealand this hospital was so drab and boring just a concrete building compared to these old buildings with auditoruims and buildings with carecter i was not even allowed to have a smoke inside hospital grounds these old hospitals can't have all been bad.

I recently watched a program on the History Channel that went into some abandoned hospitals and prisons (it may have been an episode of the "Life After People" series), including this one. It showed some of the graffiti, including this one, and described the graffiti as having been done in the 1960s, when the hospital was used for drug rehab. it described this room as one used by patients during detoxification. Some of the other graffii shown included dates and neighborhoods where patients lived. I remember one that said "Greenpoint."

"Other" might be alcohol (often listed as ETOH). I'm surprised it's not on the list. Or maybe things like insulin, arsenic, anti-freeze...

The dour daily medication times also do not mean that every patient got medication at each med pass. Some might only get medication once or twice a day, or perhaps several medications in the morning and only one medication at night.

I work in generation engineering and the scary thing is that in my state there are many plants running today that still have control rooms like this. The "New" computerized control in the power industry is cold war era computers.... This stuff is the first generation of controls; ran on compressed air. If you walk in that switchgear, you'll get a few even cooler pictures...

I gotta say this place was pretty cool. Loved the disinfektion room and corridor.

Bottom row second storage unit from the right of the picture.... on july 4th 2009...i laid on the table and was pushed in by my friends to see what it would feel like to be inside the storage unit....it was a very uneasy awkward feeling that led me to jump out quick...

Man I sure want this machine. Especially the tube and collimator unit, as they don't make them like this anymore. Is the power supply still there, and what about the film processing unit? Is it a kodak or fischer. I just started learning how to repair x ray machines within the last yr, and they are a very simple machine, you just have to be careful with the high voltage anode and cathode ends.

I want this!!!

I'll take this machine. Sure is a waste, as there are many private hospitals stuggling to make ends meet, and need new equipment. This could go to some facility thats in need.

Brunswick is so CRAP! I have worked in a bowling alley once yrs back, and everyday I was repairing the Brunswick pinsetters, if there was one day that went by and I did not have to make any repairs well i would almost shit my pants LOL. I begged them to get new equipment made by AMF which is by far so much better then Brunswick

Man I sure would love to have these patients records, especially the records of the male patients, as I am a gay man. maybe there's some pictures of their faces in them boxes. I would take the pictures and protect them with all my might, even place them under my mattress or pillow for that matter, yeah it may sound strange to many, but these are innocent people who have been killed. I myself believe in ghosts, theres good ghosts and bad ones. If you treat them right they will treat you right, at least thats how i feel. I have been in an abandoned mental hospital here called malcom bliss, and have found a few facial pictures of male mental patients, they looked to be in their mid 30's I took them home and I have them taped to my headboard above my pillow. I feel that they are protecting me at night just like I am doing them. don't know their names, which bother's me lots, I don't know how they died, and I don't want to know. Just ticks me off that the state can do these types of things to the insane, they have a voice as well, and need to be heard, as they can't help being who they are. The photos I found are not in best of shape, as the hospital closed in 1993, and I found them in 2004. I just recently taped them to my headboard, and now I don't seem to be having any more bad dreams at night like I used to, sounds weird don't it. I alsolaminated them to keep them from getting any worse or more worn out. If you find any let me know.
