I d belive that this would be the yeast growing area. The yeast must be kept pure, hence the tiles lining the walls and ceiling. Yeast is, of course, the most important part of any alcohol manufacturing endevor.

I was in an abandoned building (an abandoned catholic church) where there were pianos and an organ smashed to bits; crushed organ pipes and piano parts strewn about. I even found a smashed bass fiddle, smashed up electric organ tone cabinets and only the cracked neck and headstock of a classical guitar (the rest of the guitar was long gone). I wonder if it was a nuns guitar that an angry student took his revenge upon!! Perhaps the bass fiddle, too!!!!

A few years ago I started calling that color of green (the paler wall on the left) "Institutional Green", before I heard anyone else use the term (I thought I made it up myself). I really like the color - it "does something" for me. Recently while making a section of my basement into a mechanical room to house my new hot water system, I made sure to paint the walls Institutional Green (Valspar "Eternal Bliss" was a pretty good match to what I had in mind). Gloss finish. I like going down there and looking at the walls. Basement is mine, wife doesn't really want to know what goes on down there.

OMG i do agree Autumtwin@aol.com that there seems to be alge growing on top of the ceiling. The picture though is a very good shot.I used to go to the NSH to see my grandmother. Then a whole year; on the day of her death day the owner annouced that they were going to close down.

I can not belive they built all that and now they must tear it all down. The the stairs were inviting but I do belive that now it is quite creepy

Look up "300 main street goshen ny" on Google Maps, go to street view, and you will see the corner of the property off Craigsville Road. For some reason, the entrance road off Main St. at the site of the old mansion is called "Briarwood Apartment", athough there's no apartment built there. Maybe that was the developer deal that went south, leaving the Salesians with back taxes that cost them all the property except the Cemetary off Craigsville Road.

The Tower was recently torn down. I'm not sure of the timeline for the School building. The Mansion's foundation is part of a memorial garden at the Park.
