This is the entrance to B Bldg and just inside, straight ahead was the entrance to the movie theatre.

There was a regulation 9 hole golf course in front and on the side toward US 23. There were also tennis courts right out in the area where it appears this shot was taken from.

Hi Anna...I worked there from 1972-1983. Looked far worse from the outside than the inside. Although there were some unconventional treatments in those days, all were done with good intentions and many good people worked there. I have fond memories of my years working there and wish they would resume having reunions again like they did a couple of times a few years back.

Ugh. I hated those things when I had to get braces. I have a tiny mouth, and the orthodontist didn't have any small enough for me. They were always painfully too large...
Would love to discover what happened to my grandmother who passed away at Pilgram State in the 1950's. She was committed around the late 20's or 30's and orphaned her 2 sons. Her name was Ida (Phillips) Richartz

Visited Rancho many years ago on a rainy dark night, very dark inside. I could feel the history of the place, creepy but fun!
Lots of nice angles, twists and turns in this shot. Thanks so much for a new gallery today, and looking forward to the next.
Those cross-beams look pretty low - maybe that is how that guy died when he stood up in the car (as read in the history that Mr. Motts kindly provided). Thanks for the historic photos and text.
