I found myself in Los Angeles for a few days, and although the ever-sunny skies were a nice change of the dreary mid-west November scenery I was getting accustomed to, the weather was a little too nice I suppose. I felt the urge to find someplace dark and creepy. L.A. is a pretty happening place though; most of the places I scouted out were being knocked down, renovated, or just pretty tough to access. I took a chance spending the last daylight hours driving out to the town of Downey, and I'm glad I did. The abandoned buildings at Ranchos Los Amigos didn't have the grandiosity of the old hospitals found on the east coast, but it was great to wander around alone for a few hours those cool, dark wards.
