I've been looking at this website for a while now and it is amazing (I am fascinated by abandoned mental hospitals and the history of mental health care). Motts, your photography skills are spectacular! I felt particularly compelled to post a comment here as I live a mere 40 minutes or so from Wilkes-Barre. I've never heard of this hotel until now so it is really neat to see photos of a place nearby! Keep up the awesome work, Motts. I will surely comment on other galleries :)
Thanks a lot, Motts! This is the picture I have on my desktop at work.....I have gotten so many comments on this pic! Truly stunning work, absolutely exquisite!
I stumbled across this site today and I must say it is fascinating. One of the other posts mentioned wanting to see the inside of some of these buildings etc. Well you can try going to the site below and they have a huge assortment of photos of the various buildings, plus other buildings as well. Check it out. http://www.lioddities.com

i went over to glenndale last october '06 with some friends. we went downstairs and walked through the tunnels [it was wet and muddy down there but not too bad]. we came to a dead end because it was closed off by some gate but we didnt want to walk back through all the mud and water so we climbed through the man-hole. it was scary but pretty sweet
These are beautiful shots. i take my dog for romps in the woods here frequently and am fascinated by its history and juxtaposition to the natural flora and fauna. Have you seen the nearby NIKE base? It's also eerie, but in a different way.
"i bet you didn't know you trash once left out, is public property and anyone can take it ? "----- the place obviously wasn't left to rot and have things stolen if police still patrol around there trying to keep people out. Do you think the police want the curious people kept out or the idiots who take things that don't belong to them. The place is guarded for a reason.. stupid vandalists and thiefs who think they are better than everyone else. People enjoy seeing the building as it was before people like phantom ruin the experience by removing things and marking on the walls. Whats the point anyway? It doesnt make u any cooler to make up a stupid name like phantom and leave your mark on every wall... we get it, you have no life.
My uncle used to work ther and my friends father I actually know a lot of people who worked there.
I grew up in K.P the town not the hospital Looking at the pictures and reading brings back a lot of old memeries
Friends of mine did a lot of exploring. I was to chicken to go in any of the buildings I could tell yoy stories for hours about that place we never really had any where to hang out as teenagers with out the police hastleing us so off to the KPPC we all went to goof off
If you want to hear about being scared I could tell you
I remember useing the grounds to cut through from one side of town to the other. Lots of short cuts One day my friend toni ann and I were cutting through the grounds and we passed a scary looking man walking slowly with a shot gun We were on bmx bikes we were peddling as fast as we could there were crazy people hanging there arms out the bared windows yelling at us it was horrible. I never cut threw on foot or bike again.
I had a friend who used to bring a old crazy women wine and hand it to her threw the bars and she would give him money
We spent a lot of time on those grounds i
Now that I look back it was so insane!
If our parents only knew where we were
