I'm left-handed - it wasn't until I was in college that I knew that left-handed desks were actually built. My entire life was in right-handed desks and I just thought that was the way the world was. In fact, I'd become so accustomed to right-handed desks, when I sat in a left-handed desk in college, I found it awkward feeling. (Ok, so I'm a little weird, lol).
Looks like an ugly florescent light fixture on the ceiling in the center panel. Imagine the ugly harsh light in a room like this. I agree with Rome, there should be a chandelier there.
nvusofmotts - You have me rolling....I can't stop thinking that phrase now!
I'm guessing that this room was a foyer / entrance to a suite or larger room. If you look closely at the open door, it looks like a room number - 7?5 (couldn't quite make out the middle digit).
The neglect of an instrument that once was so majestic and beautiful truly makes me want to cry. But, in a sense, it is still performing a task for which it was designed - eliciting emotion.
This building is beautiful. To think about all the labor, time, and effort the artisans put into building in - when completed you know each must have been very proud of their work - to think all of this is gone, destroyed, and ground up as landfill is sickening.
Such an amazing picture....it truly doesn't look real....I agree with Trishawish, it could easily be an engraving. Motts, you undoubtedly one of the most awesome talented photographers I've had the pleasure of viewing.
Lynne - your mind seems to work like mine. As soon as I saw the pic I thought I heard the Addams family music playing in the background....then I saw your comment. Great minds think alike, lol.
Sorry for the second post....but forgot to add: Bidets usually have water (adjustable temp) that can come from a style of faucet. I've even seen some with a type of hand-held shower. The female stand up urinal had none of these devices attached and just shot water down like in a male urinal.
