It looks very Moroccan.

This building was to renovated into offices and restaurants, but the York City council vetoed the idea, keeping the area blighted, so they could apply for federal funds. The city and county would have torn down the structure years ago, but the building is on the Federal Historic Register of Historic Buildings, so they can't. However true to form, the city and county won't allow it to be sold, and refuses any maintenance on the building. When someone burns it down, or it falls down from neglect, the Historic Register will allow them to demolish the old prison, which is how York deals with anything old or historic.

i had to shi uhh find a restroom in new orleans the day after mardi gras was over. Finally went into a BK thinking that it would have a relatively clean bathroom..oh HELL NO... I would DEFINITELY choose this one over any of the ones from bourbon st.
i like the poetic justice the picture serves. the people in the prison could have looked out, and that large expanse that lies is hopelessly beyond their grasp. A calm surrounding for most likely chaotic/dark place...amazing.
Looks more spidery compared to the SNAKE one. With all the paint flaking and peeling away I have no clue ..

(and I wonder how they could have written these?)

a few friends and I are interested in ghost hunting this prison. Are there any 'no trespassing signs' ? Are people allowed to visit it , etc... ? Thanks.
Great site, great pics. Thanks.
I have a picture of myself exiting that door.
The visitors and friends of the inmates would stand outside the walls and throw cigarettes and snacks up through the windows. Sometimes girlfriends would camp out below their loved ones windows at night and converse and sing to each other.

Again, the rec yard was on the north side, surrounded by fencing.
