1,591 Comments for Glenn Dale Hospital

Today is October 1, 2010. The Halloween season is upon us and thus, someone may decide to do some filming inside the Glenn Dale Hospital grounds. I have never been on the property but have driven past it on my way to the Marching through Time program at the Prince George's County Historical Society at the Glenn Dale Mansion. Also, about three weeks ago there was an article written about it in the Washington Post. Click on this URL ...

This reminds me of the old Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Dispensary.
This was not a psychiatric asylum. It was a tuberculosis sanitorium.
Remember that this was a tuberculosis sanitorium, where small children and adults died from TB. The sanitoriums are no longer needed and disintegrate because man has found a cure for the disease, if we choose to use it. The architectural elements and miscellaneous objects probably remain because memories of the dead and dying are not pleasant, and we don't want to return there to pick up unimportant material objects. If we let the disease once again take hold, these sanitoriums may take on new meaning.

Food for thought.

Wow. Lots of comments on this one. Mine would be AAAAAGGGGHHH!!!!!!!... This creeps me to no end. I even love SCUBA diving, but I absolutely refuse to go at night, in black, bottomless water. When my grandparents gutted and re-did their basement, they found a very old, rock-lined well under the floor. They put a huge iron cover on it, but we got to look down it first. I've hated dark water ever since...(8-o
