I beleive the photagrapher is using the chair as a symbol or signature or both, to accentuate the feeling of sadness or lonliness derived from looking at the photo.

The theme can be seen in many of his shots.

What is up with the battery on the step
Shortly after turning 18, I had the misfortune of being taken to jail in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. This was in 1984. At that time, the jail in Ft. Lauderdale was very old and I remember it was condemned shortly after my stay. To say the least, it was a very unpleasant experience and one thing that haunts mt memory of the place is being put in a part of the jail that seemed as if it hadn't been used in a long time. It was a huge cell, very cold, dimly light and dank. There were toilets (toilets is the word for them but that's not what they were, not in the sence as what you have in your bathroom) against the wall. They were actually holes cut into a long wood box that ran the leagnth of the wall. They were open air, with no seats and no lever to flush. This is very similr to what i saw a very long time ago and it's very chilling.
Ok, I don't scary easy, but this pic scare the hell out of me! I see black sheep trying to get over the rainbow and one of them have my name on it!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I'm sure I remember my childhood, I've never lived in PA. But this looks like something I would paint/color.

I knew a girl named Beryl. Creepy.
Is it only me, but does anyone else think maybe, just maybe, that phamton may have been in pennhurst in it's days and don't have anywhere else to go? I read that when they closed the hospital, which also had adults as well as children, that some patiets were sent to other hospitals, back to familys, or even turn to the streets by being called sane and stable. Phantom may have been one called sane and stable but wasn't and he can't leave. It's the only place he knows and remains there.

For the acts he does, it's a form of revenge for him for the abuse. Untill you have suffered severly, you don't know what someone might do. No, I do not approve of taking of items or setting fires, but I wanted to stat something that seems to be showing but no one noticed. You heard the saying, "takes one to know one", well, I'm speaking by that saying. I'm bipolar and seeing what phamton is saying, I say he is also bipolar.
At my high school, you had to go down stairs for the gym, it was partly underground, and it look just like this! Tiles and all.
I looked this picture over and over. It still looks like a monster to me. I don't see the gingerbread house. But it does put me in mind of those ink blot test that psych's give. Makes you think. Hmmmmm

On the abuse everyone talks about, I can speak from the patient side. I've been in a mental hospital, twice. The first time, I had support and caring from the staff. They were very helpful and seem to care. But the 2nd time, I went to another one, it was ran by the same company as the 1st, but at a differant location. The treatment was awful. I came out worse than I went in. After I got out, I vowed not to ever go back. I had a nervous break down a couple of months ago and my dr. wanted to send me back, but knowing how to answer some questions (in other words, lying) I didn't get sent back. I'm terrified of hospitals now cause of that. So I can feel what this children went thru. I've been there.

~to yogalifter that blot is a spot on the wall that either paint has came off or a board on the wall.
