Another institution local to Pa, still in existence, is Elwyn, which also prides itself on teaching it students how to be more self sufficient. In the older days of Elwyn, they would have photos/ painting, etc, of the students/ residents, all over the campus, as they did chores, such as hanging clothes, kneeding dough, gardening and sewing. I think the skin coloring is varied in shade, and maybe misinterpreted.

I forgot the part about the stairs...the stairs would be so the 'caregiver' could stand above the poor 'showeree' and get a hair washing or delousing, treatment, etc, then be hosed down from above.

Hi. I used to care for people who had been relocated after having the misfortune of living in this hell hole. Many of them told me stories of a "shower area" or "room" or "corner" where they would be hosed down. This photo perfectly encapsulates their description for me.

too sad right now to remember the torture my brother went through in this place. I do think people have a choice now to visit., too bad he never had a voice.

Dropped in to see what crazy theories people are coming up with. Always good for a laugh now and them. Just one thing Urbanlegend, I never called anyone a "retard" ...Moron yes and if the shoe fits......and I was never a nurse, just a lowly aide.
This is the main room of the institution
If the bodies who used this trolley could talk. What stories would they tell us?
