Disturbing
If this place is indeed still in use, they should be ashamed of themselves for just leaving this crypt in this condition. Leaving human remains scattered is just not acceptable to me. They should remove the bones and knock this place down and plant some greenery or something there. Just leaving bones like this? Disturbing to say the least
I don't know if I agree with that
That would make more sense
Poor bones, they should have been removed and given a proper burial. I hope that made sense, it's early here, lol!
Yeah, it probably did not smell too nice in there in the hot summer humidity
Yeah, I would NOT want to walk around in there! Plenty to cut your foot on or trip and fall. But yeah, it is pretty despicable that some don't respect the dead.
The green colors here are so beautiful!
Yay, new gallery! It looks pretty treacherous walking around in there, that's for sure. It is sad that people would destroy the final resting place of others, so disrespectful

Motts, thank you as always for sharing with us. Beautiful shots. Sadly forgotten by future loved ones, but we probably will be as well. So few know where their previous family members are interred much less who they really were - prior to their grandparents. We don't care where we came from anymore.
Ohhhh........ohhh... OK
Thank you, Motts, very much, indeed - you are The Best - and bone skilled also. Live and learn. Excellent!
They look so rich highly colored like this; appreciate more than white bones, now.

As "disrespectful" as it is to desecrate a grave... the dead don't care... and apparently the living don't either.

Carolyn, I assume it's a glazed brick, since it hasn't fallen off the ceiling as I would suspect tile would do, but I'm not 100% certain. I'm a sucker for herringbone patterns as well.

Mica - bones can turn all kinds of colors depending on the surrounding environment. The minerals in the soil, metal object, and even the dye from the clothes the person was buried with can stain bones. Most bones in museums are bleached white using various chemicals (i.e. bleach, hydrogen peroxide).

Iceberg - yeah I'm more saddened in that people would vandalize a place like this, rather than lamenting the fact that this was a living person. I would have sympathy for friends and family members if they were alive and cared about what happened here, but looking at the state of this place, that doesn't seem to be the case.

The skull was about the size of a human palm, so it's most likely a raccoon or opossum.
