Yeah...
and the curtains still there...and that wide door with THREE HINGES and all the glass; is a friendly door. Looks like this was a good room.

I worked here for years and have fond memories of both staff and patients I worked with. I worked on a lot of different wards both in Rehab and Admissions. Spent lots of time on the grounds and running back and forth in the many tunnels going from building to building.I hated leaving when they started closing down
Left abandoned over Forty years! FORTY YEARS!
Strange not to find a use for the edifices in such a long time, really.
Love Rathen, often end up here, so soothing - sharper than Verden, but yet soft soft soft all hues shades and tints very beautiful.

Most of the photos are lit by natural sunlight, as the fire exit doors were all wide open. If they've been closed, the theater space will certainly be really dark.

That's a shame, I hope it doesn't come down to that as the building seemed to be in decent shape. Thanks for the update!

Yup, it's a small room. It was designed that way so two or more patients couldn't be crammed into a bedroom designed for single occupancy.

Correct, these windows were boarded; wards closer to the central administration area had a translucent protective sheet on the outside.

Great Idea, Wanderer. We all have Halcyon in common. Mr. Ware was quite the Architect. I think he would be pleased that his concept is still appreciated by so many. Of course Mr. Motts as well, his photography started this obsession. It would be great to meet everyone that Mott's photography has brought together.
