What about the poor sots who come too late and never understand the soap dispenser references?? There's context to all of the discussions that would be lost without the background information. From an archeological perspective, it's like examing the evolution of a culture.
Would it be helpful to Motts' bandwidth to delete a lot of our old comments (with the exception of the really funny ones?) or to eliminate the comments that are so badly mutilated that no one can read them?
After about 30 references to that soap dispenser, I finally did a search of the site to find out what the joke was... there were a LOT of matches (4 pages!). It took a while to find the original. Good jokes never die I guess.
Noises in un-maintained structures are to be expected. With very few exceptions the sounds are easily explained away. The disused places I've been in whistle, creak, moan, crackle, pop, rattle and thunk. The number of times the air currents have slammed doors somewhere on me is too many to count on ones' hand. Bear in mind that if these were running buildings there would be hums, buzzes and other noises that would cover up the low level building "chatter".
Andrew, it doesn't matter if the facility is abandoned; you have no right to trash it more than it has already been. Urban explorers may invade these places, but they should cause no harm while there. Damaging the buildings merely increases the likelihood that they will be torn down instead of restored. Breaking windows lets in even more water, which it should be obvious is not beneficial to the structure.
I am so thankful that things have changed in a major way as far as we view how people with mental illness should be treated... with dignity and respect.I do think that unless you have had a family member with mental illness ...there is no conception on how families feel .We do not abandon or forget them , ther person or there belongings. Thankfully society is evolving to change the way we view the mentally ill and will continue to evolve even more so . Families dont forget there loved ones..................
