Grifs- You are absolutely right. There isn't a location or a gallery that doesn't fascinate me. I just can't pick a single favorite.

Hey Motts- Which of these is your absolute favorite?

Mister Motts out of habit, professionalism, and his own personal safety. Does not reveal the true locations, how to get there, or how to get into these buildings, on this site.
Please take a moment to read the About section of his website.

I am sorry to hear that we are losing a landmark, in this manner.
I sincerely hope that there was noone in the building when the blaze began, and that if there were, they were able to make a safe exit.

Crews Battle Blaze At Former Dixmont Hospital
Fire Grows To Four Alarms

UPDATED: 8:43 am EST November 23, 2005

EMSWORTH, Pa. -- The Allegheny County fire marshal is investigating a four-alarm fire at the former Dixmont Hospital.

The building is on the edge of the hospital property in Kilbuck Township off Route 65.

Several crews responded to the fire at the vacant two-story structure.

The water used to fight the fire caused icy conditions on the roadways.

Salt trucks have been sent to the area.

This is the second fire in this area in the past month.

This fire started in the main building of the former Dixmont Hospital on Nov. 7.

The building had been vacant since 1984.

A police officer spotted the fire.

The structure is in the same area where a controversial new Wal-Mart is being planned.

Lynne, this a prime example of the copper that gets stripped out of these buildings.
Scavengers tear up the walls to get the copper to recycle.

I wrote a paper for 7th grade english (1969) about how bricked over windows were neat because of the story each one told. My teacher simply could not grasp what I was thinking of. I guess she wouldn't understand this site either.*

Stay out. Toxic asbestos construction. The police will find you. I will find you
