I live about a three minute walk from the hospital, and have for my whole life. I'm so excited that you have kept its life in these photos, because now that they have begun to renovate it, it does not hold nearly as much history and mystery as it used to.
It kind of disturbs me that Northampton has taken the initiative to disregard all that history, and kind of hide it from us. There are tons of soccer fields that were developed litterally only months after the place closed. Let me tell you how weird it is to be playing a soccer game, and having your teammate kick a ball into a deserted building. Its hard not to feel disrespectful.

I still say we enhance your enjoyment of the picture, but I also understand where some might not want our thoughts penetrating their brain. It is possible to view the photos without reading the comments.

Yep almost all of these old state hospital buildings were designated fallout shelters, many still have barrels of water, toilet paper, medical supplies, and food rations.

Looked like sections of pipe; this room looked like it was used for storage after it closed while the rest of the campus was active.

Lynne and all the other regulars, please do not stop commenting - To me it's a part of Opacity.us and second to Mr. Mott's work, it is what keeps me coming back here.

Wow, I almost feel queazy (sp?) looking at this one, if you look at the bottom of the bar then follow it up you begin feeling dizzy! This is actually one of my favourites, I'm into the whole weird viewpoints theme at the moment since I've been helping a friend with his photography course.

Live, I had the same feeling, it looks so much like part of a set you'd see at films studio's, it took me a minute to work out what was going on. I know I've just got up but I'm not normally that bad!

Because, then, I'd get to see who you really are, so I can see you cry like a little girl when you get arrested for vandalism, what a great photo that would make, I'm sure each and every member here would take great pleasure laughing at it. If that doesn't work, you could always "fall" off a roof.......
