This is what's called a suction aspirator. It was used for abortions. The fetus would be sucked through the tube and up into the little holding tank.

Its either a dirty protest or smeared blood, for sure...

But to be honest, I'd say it was blood. Sometimes I do blood paintings, and the stain does look very similar to the dried blood of my paintings. (I'm not as strange as I sound by the way...)

I love the contrast of the red on the stairs to the dull gray of everything else.

i live near there, and was always haunted by the place and found out recently the the entire campus of the hospital is to be redeveloped within 5 years into a condominium complex i was sad

i cant get over how clean this building is.its almost pristine in a haunting sort of way.good shot motts.ty
