Beutiful, astonishing, fantastic, some of the many words i could use to discribe this wonderful album of photos of a place i hope to see again. Hope to see more like it.
it could well be part of a railway station...apparently it used to have its own station as ithe train also ran through my village but they closed it down way before i was born!
hey! wanna know somethin freaky? when i was a kid my dad played badminton here every week and we joined him as mum was at work! it hasnt changed a bit! freaky as hell! i blame my dad for my obssession with old buildings and freaky photos!!
we used to play around on the stage when we got bored and occassionally wander the nearby halls! we even bumped into a patient or two! that place always freaked me out but im fascinated by it!! and now im doing a project on it for my art degree! i wanna visit the site!
If some only see fit to mock, please accept my gratitude, Gordon-UK, for having available the original picture in the first place. Courtesy costs nothing - to have asked first would simply have been polite, I have known sites to be shut down after "taking" images without asking first. Motts is no plagarist from what I have seen ! I love Mott's images and must add that seeing the original picture alongside the modern one is a rare treat and really sets this piece off - a rare glimpse of how it once must have been, how very evocative ! Thank you Motts - and Gordon.
I spent all of my summers here from 1968 until 1985 . My grandparents spent many hours playing cards here. It was so packed, standing room only. It truely was a magnificant hotel in her past, very sad.
The hospital is used as a cancer research center. The movie was "A Beautiful Mind."
It will be knocked down soon and replaced with town homes - so sad.
Umm.. Does it say "DIE!" on the door?
Anyways, these pics are so cool and some of 'em horrifying too. I have this thingy for abandoned asylums / hospitals / schools. They're just so amazing looking. Motts, great work mate, keep it up.
Holy Creepfest!!! But God I LOVEEE how either the flash or the natural or artificial light was set up!!! SO perfect and gives SOOOO much emotion to the photo. Another truly amazing piece of work.
