They have similar things at a 17th century fort near where I live. Assuming they retained some similar principles of defensive design between then and the 20th century, those probably also would have been intended to allow for those inside to shoot at attackers while maintaining a maximum amount of cover from enemy fire.
My brother died in Pilgrim State in the mid-70s. He committed suicide. He had been in and out of that place for years. He was only 33 years old. Only my parents know all of the horrors that went on there and thank God they never fully shared them with us. My brother was a wonderful man who had a horrible desease and suffered God only knows what. I only hope others will have a more humane fate.
To me the current picture speaks more. Here the room is used, defaced and worn down. Yet it still retains the beauty it once had. You just have to look harder for it.
I shon my dads 1,000,000 candle watt torch on this glitter ball and it reflected all the colours all over the room, that was quite strange, a disco without music! it would be pretty creepy to see the old layout with the state its in now, but old buildings like this are pretty fascinating.
Also all 12 of us heard strange sounds that night, its definately haunted and in the block with all the broken sinks alot of orbs have shown up on the video we took.
I think people should be taken on tours of this place, as they're going to enter it anyway, and its better to keep control over them rather than stumbling around a place with pure holes in the floors, and loose ceilings.
Man I should get some credit for opening my BIG mouth with the book idea!
