I remember those old belt driven drills. My grandfather had a portable one that he brought home when he retired. It came handy on many projects.

I love center hinged doors but am surprised to see one in a medical facility as one person enters and the poor guy/gal on the other side can get bammed if they don't move quick enough.

I found it interesting there was so much graffiti here, as most of your German locations were empty of vandalism.

Reminds me of something I'd see at the old Winchester Mystery House...It keeps building without rhyme or reason

Fascinating gallery Motts. Not at all what I expected when I clicked to view, but as always, loved it just the same!

Great gallery. I just came back from a trip to an amusement park and had waited to view these photos so I could do a comparison. Again, wonderful pictures!

At our local cemetery there are many trees, and some of the most expensive plots are the ones underneath (the most expensive are the ones looking over the ocean).

Although the majority of graves are marked by a flat slab, to prevent them from falling over the cliff onto the beach during storms (which has happened) I can only imagine that one day the coffins will end up being pushed up by the trees and their roots.

As a side note, yes the coffins have fallen over the side onto the beach. My earth sciences teacher told stories of going there and studying the coffins and large grave markers when the storms would hit.

I live where the local cemeteries do not allow grave markers that are not flush against the ground. This has been standard for thirty years or so, although the cemetery is quite old. The reason given is that the cemetery is located with an ocean view, and when severe storms come, parts of bodies, coffins and so on have been found on the beach. The gravestones that are not flush are the first things to go.
