I've been silently admiring these galleries for over a year now....but just wanted to let you know how amazing your photos are....and what amazing sites you've discovered! Keep up the wonderful work you're doing!

I found your site this morning while searching pics of PSH on google. Fantastic images!
I used to go here in the mid to late 60's when i was a little kid with my Mom and Grandmother when they would go to visit my Grandfather, who was a patient there. He was a violent alcoholic. I guess back then he was considered insane. He never made it out of that place. He died there in 67, maybe 68, and I imagine he was autopsied in this very room. It's really extremely sad to see these pictures, no matter how fascinating they are. he was an Italian immigrant who's name is on the wall at Ellis Island, and it's depressing to think that his American life that must have began with such promise and hope for a better future ended in a terrible and demoralizing place like Pilgrim. Inever went inside. I always stayed outside in the car, but the sight of the smokestacks brings back vivid childhood images that are as haunting and depressing now as they were 40 years ago.

ok.....i want the posters and the book....hmm better start saving up now.

I can't make money off this to be a career, but I wouldn't call it a hobby. It is definitely a large part of my life

At least (hopefully) your site is bringing these castles and buildings back to some kind of public awareness. Even if its only here on this page....I like to think the buildings went out with that last breath of thanks for having at least us as an audience in awe of its history and beauty.

I'm kind of dumb to these things, but do most of these buildings lay in the hands of the (government) ? Is that why so many lay in ruins? I guess I'm just a dreamer but I'd love to hear one day that someone formed a historical society and fixed it up for the sake of preserving it's timeless beauty.
