Was there yesterday... only one of the starcases actually has a banister. it looks so different to these pics now.

You might want to stay the hell out of there, The MD State Police and Counties use the place at several times each year for forcable entry and terrorism training. If they see you, the bastards will arrest you. If not forget the TB, I was there right after it closed and there was no danger. The place was only used administratively for a while. The patients had long gone.

This shot really is the cream in this (fabulous) batch -- it's just a pity that the frame decoration around it detracts/distracts from the actual image

My husband and I took a ride by here yesterday, there's not much left now of the old section, and what's there now won't be there much longer. :-(

we went in this building too but we didnt see anything weird or hear anything but what's really scary about the children's building is that the elevator doors are open on every floor even when the elevator isnt at that floor and if you look down the shaft its really creepy.

quick question were poseys specifically for the mentally disabled or would you get these as part of basic hospital gear for anyone?

No. Not light, just stairs to "downstairs" ....

i was in the abandoned dormitory building at a boarding school on mission hill in boston and it looked just like this...those long boarding school hallways with rows of identical doors!! and always a radiator at the end.

This is a comment related to Randy's comment about interviews done there for Schindler's List. One of the last summers' we went there, a film crew of Steven Spielberg's was there to interview survivors for his holocaust memory museum (or whatever it is called). There were a number of people sitting a a large table behind us.

We used to go there for many years with the family at the end of summer, before school started. My kids loved the place. I think before the fire, the roof caved in from the weight of snow. The owners didn't want to rebuild, but they couldn't get the insurance anyother way. It was not the same after that, and closed a year or two later. They charged separately for everything, including meals when they had to reopen. It's a shame that almost all of these hotels are gone.

yes there are too many guards and people who wander around for a homeless person to stay in one spot... there is also much dust and asbestos which wouldn't allow for a very comfortable night sleep.
on a separate note, it is a shame that people who go to visit cant be sure that what they are seeing is truly accurate...there are too many people relocating items or even taking them with them...my cousin, on one of his many trips had found the morgue of the complex...the next time that he went all of the doors and trays had been removed...too bad no one will be able to see it again.
