I see the white blob on the open balcony section. It doesn't look like a spotlight to me. Unless its another window from behind? Its kinda hard to tell. Interesting picture though Motts......

Great photo Motts.....If those polls are for lights...it seems that the area would still be kinda dark since there aren't too many of them all together. I wouldn't want to be there late at night...ugh!! The lawn looks nice for being abandoned too? interesting really.....um?

Pat ....thanks for the above info....Please update whenever possible. Like I said in my previous post. I was never a student there (heck I was only like 6 or 7 yrs old in the mid-70s...) but because of Motts photos I can learn about this place and many others. Old homes and buildings all had previous 'lives' so to speak before they became abandoned like they are now. I love learning the 'history' of such places. So thank you to all that have written there stories here. They are noticed and much appreciated. Memories never fade.....Thanks much.....:)
I hope the structure or some of it can be re-used in some way. If the buildings are too far gone to be saved that is. Maybe they can make a monument to Bennett's school? The B & B would've been a great idea...but that should've happend not too long after it closed in 77. Its (the buildings) have been sitting way too long now (for renovation that is)....and I'm sure costs would be sky high ....so many upgrades needed really. Sad but so true. Either way , Pat, please keep us all updated when you can. Take care.....

OHHH,!! This work creates such an emotion. I can smell the muskiness of its dank corners. This place still contains all of the emotion it was put in service to contain.So creepy ,beyond words,forboding,beckening,sick

well its is nov8 now 2008 and just before it was nov 7th.. im a 15 year old kid from East islip new york and i am adventures.. so me and my friends here about this place called Central islip phyciatric center... we go there, its basically all rubble exxept this one building wich was an old fire department that was partially burned down... we go in there and we recorded alot and took pictures. but it wasnt that scary.. eery but not scary.. so we decided to go to pilgram state, we rolled up in the car on the side of building 23, then were like ok lets do this lets commit and go in. we get to the fron and we look down the walk way and we didnt c anything because of all the bushes. we pulled in the semi circle drive way and procceded under the over hanging cove.. there is a broken bench and half a couch there... then we pulled in front of the door and my freind jimmy screems from the back right seat of the car and he's ike somthing touched me.. so we all looked at the door way and honest to god we all saw this half of a human body in a shadowy form horizantal but hovering about 2 inches from the ground.. i was like what the " f " is that.. and right after i said it, it flew at my window really fast with its mouth agap and a balled head.. and i started to punch the window and the dash board in fear. my freind jimmy at this point litteraly pee'd in his pants and we were all screaming my freind nick was in shock for about 2 hours after the experiance.. all of them said they would never go back but not me... im so curious as to what it could have been.. im goin back soon ill post more
