How very very sad. Wonder how many more suffered the same fate. Her story is heart breaking.

We were talking about EF a few weeks ago and I decided to go online to see what ever became of it since I was there in the mid 60's as a child. These photos and others I've seen online are both fascinating and depressing. I am planning on taking my grandson to Clarks Farm this summer to see the restored items since the original EF is no more which would have been a blast to take him to. I guess they're right, you really can't go home again.

Hey what trail can i find these at? i just recently moved to blauvelt and am very interested in seeing all this history. Today i took a hike from rt 303 by Lieber road (bridge that goes over railroad)- i then took the green trail to the end of clausland mnt parking lot.

I saw this pic years ago and came back for a revisit. I too originally though this was such a sad pic and having read eldokid's comment I have changed my mind. The sadness goes to show how much value we place on things. We are not our things. Just think of how much crap we have that isn't even important to us let alone someone trying to retain a keepsake for memory. I know I have a lot... Even with a diary, there is could be a lot of interesting things in there for your family, but would you have written most of it if you ever thought someone else would read it? Sometimes it is best for things to be left alone and just keep the memories of others in our heads.
