Very cool pic - I was just visiting Usedom last month and believe I drove right by that building (which if it's the one I'm thinking of it's in the town and not the museum proper) and recall thinking there might be a good pic - indeed there is. Many thanks!

I've always wanted to 'do down' (as apposed to 'do up') a house so it looks abandoned. Has anyone ever done this? I once saw some wallpaper that was designed to be like the inside of a ruined roman villa, that was cool.......

The firehouse still stands. But the rest of the Cochoran building is gone.

Such a beautifull and unique design. (For an asylum that is.) Or if you prefer the term correctional facility. (Spelling?) I suppose it depends on your view point.

But again, It's such a lovely building though I took a look at what was suspected to be a seclusion room in a previous photo of yours, it was very small and had a fernace or heater of some sort jutting from the wall, I did not find that very safe for the patient.

It looks almost like a castle, that would quite confuse me if I were to ever pass by without knowledge of what the place was. (Provided there were no signs pointing out the obvious.)

WOW! That is a big sucker!! They should renovate and use it. Buildings are not built like that anymore.

It's kind of weird but, it kinda fits with the steam room/sauna idea. 70• C is like what? 150• F? That would put off an awful lot of steam. Though a tub like that would be a pretty inefficient way to do it....

there are some of these holes in some small out houses in the forest. there are greenhouses and other overgrown gardens that are all over grown now.

there are play ground hidden in the woods. two to be exact.

I lived around the corner from Glendale Hospital. me and all my skater friends where some of the first to venture upon the abandoned hospital. We used to skate in the theater. At that time there was still electricity.

We mapped out all the tunnels and secret passages. the tunnel connect to all the buildings event the maintenance building. They have exits in the middle of the fields under man hole covers. I remember going into the hospital and popping up in the field to find that it snowed while we were under ground for several hours. the tunnels had water in them so be prepared.

i know several people who stripped all the brass out of that building and made a fortune. I used to have great metal clipboards, a prosthetic leg, and a nice cedar storage chest from there. I wish i still had the chest and clipboard.

The places to find of interest are the morgue and the secret stairs that lead up to a secret room. these are both in the main building on the west side of Glendale road.
