They were planning on filming Shutter Island here recently, but plans fell through. They weren't able to because filming would have gone on while demoliton was also. It's a shame.
As a high school graduation gift in 1967, my parents let me go along with my friend's family to Sunnycroft for a week. I was a very wild time for a naive 16 year old from Queens & I just LOVED it! I recognize alot of the old names mentioned here in this blog & I bet I have a few pictures I'll have to dig out. Years later, Annette & I spent quite a bit of time together...She was pregnant with Jamie, I was pregnant with Megan & Lorraine Romeo was pregnant with Renee - we ate our way through the Orange County Fair that year. I had a great grandfather who lived and died in one of the wards here. We still don't know what he did to get in there, but my uncle said that when his mother went to visit him and took him, he (uncle) would hear screaming, moaning, and gibberish as he waited at the nurse's station. Scary.
