Still there in 2018. I think, anyway. Finding 2017 pictures and no news of demo or collapse. I’m still trying to figure out if there was a penthouse machine room, or the elevator motors and shieves are in the basement.
They are renovating this I work for a insulation company and they spray foamed the roof deck, it looks nothing like this any more but there are still 3 more buildings and it is in Staunton va it was a insane asylum, then a correction center male and female and now apartments
Interesting view which combines greatly the combination of a human-made building in a derelict state and the nature softly claiming back its ingredients! ;)
This pic made me jump! I grew up about 15 minutes from this hospital. I’ve always been intrigued by it and wondered what it looked like inside. Thanks for the great photos, even though this one gave me quite a shock at first. :)
I was there and all they kept doing was shooting me up with drugs and putting me in that isolation room all I wanted to do was go home they wouldn't let me use a phone and they kept putting me in the isolation room that place sucked
Thank you so much pat ratchet all info.
+ Congratulations to book anytime soon, come May/June 2018.
Wish great success for you now. Is exciting.
Yes - this whole Event moves us all very much.
oh, thank so much Motts! That means a lot to me. And Wanderer, we are in the same boat, all of my old ruined stomping grounds everywhere
in Millbrook are...now something else, if not gone. Mostly gone, it seems.
But the old girl is still there, who would have thought it?
No matter what the hell I've said, I still want to kind of see Halcyon Hall
stick around for as many more sunsets as it's destined to be.
cheers, all- pwr
Bethany - that was immediately my first thought, too, when I saw this picture. Sorry, Motts, I don't think the soap dispenser is ever going to be forgotten! :-)
I used to do yard work for Dr. & Mrs. Curtis!! I grew up 2 houses down from them! When I was a kid, every time that I went to the main hospital, I used to toss a quarter into the fountain!! A few years ago, I went into the old main hospital for business purposes. It still had that same ol' medicinal smell buy was eerie how quiet it was.
Reading the information you posted on the location page it's sad to me that a place so steeped in history was used as a makeshift fire training facility.
