all of these photographs are breath taking. i have tried many times to capture these buildings in photograph, nable to duplicate this scale of perfection.

Used to ride my bike, play and explore in that building. My Grandfather worked there and he would take me on walks all over that property.

I drive past these structures quite often, and it is sad to see them being torn down. What a waste of money taking these buildings down. The job was never finished with the other sets of buildings that were taken down years ago. The sites are piles of rubble, the job never completed. They would be better off leaving the structures as they stand rather than leaving a pile of rubble. At least the ghost buildings have great beauty to them. The state complains they have no money and they waste it on a project that adds no value at all. A complete money pit and waste of resources.

You must live for this site. I have never seen a stream of consciousness stretched out over three years before ... it's a freaking world's record! Saves a lot on therapists I bet! That said, the level of angst against development of this site conveniently overlooks one basic and salient fact: the existing structure looks like crap. Once a magnificent structure, designed by a leading architect of the early century, it now resembles an Adams Family nightmare. It is very easy to critisize from the bleachers a thoughtful plan to create moderately priced housing; it's much harder to put some effort into helping the developer to craft his basic offering onto something that will incorporate the history of the site, take the environmental issues into consideration and meet the needs of the community as a whole. In other words, I see a lot of bitching on this site, but rarely any constructive ideas. Be careful what you wish for, for you will surely get it. With Blumenthal out, you have correctly surmised that there will be no one to deal with the existing horror show the building has become because it is too costly for the village to demolish and you anti-development types have taken away any motivation for a developer to improve the situation on his dime. Like the way it looks everyone? Good ... now live with it!

if it wasnt for the very cool tiles id think it was an abadoned autopsy room from a space ship. lol or some very elaborate sop dispensers.

They did this at the Met State Hospital in Waltham, MA thats on this website. My grandparents live around the corner form there and they were woken up at 7am to the sound of gunfire and flashbangs going off. The Mass State Police were practicing breaching in the old buildings before they all got torn down

i believe the reference to the 360 degree shower meant the water hit you from all sides as in a 360 degree circle not degrees of temperature.

Motts and the whole entire PHS fans, Pilgrim State is no longer, they demolished the buildings.

Hello, I had a kid named Danny on my ward, it wad Ward D, what years was your brother there? maybe I can help you understand why he was there if it's the same Danny that I know and that I still know to this day....I am sorry that you had such a horrible experience there, I did too, we all did, it was a horrible place for kids to say the least, as for the girls sex jokes, I never heard any but, I do know that girls were being raped there by the male staff members, it was very easy to do since they had all the hidden rooms and keys and we had to trust them....I hope someday you can overcome your anger and be able to be happy...Do not let that place and it's staff members ruin you, ruin the person that you are and can be, if you do that, then that means the won the war and I know you don't want that. I know it's hard as hell to try and put your life together after being in such a horrible, physically abusive and mentally abusive place but, you can do it, you just have to tell yourself that you are worth it and JG you are worth it, if you ever want to talk look me up on facebook my name is Michelle Woods-Godfroy....

You were there before me, but for some reason the Gaebler girls sounds familiar. How are today. I spent alot of time in the building until they took it down a few months ago. Do you still live in the area?
