I'm on the side of the Security, I'm a Retail Security Officer and I know the sort of crap these guys have to put up with. Chav's who think there big and clever, yet only have half a brain cell. If some people weren't such destructive idiots there would be no need for Security. It's like you're playing games with Security, 'look at us, we're so clever, we can get passed you'. Play at the park with the rest of the little children.

I grew up in Scott Road Great Barr, which was named after the Scott family as it was the road used to go from Great Barr Hall to Red House Park. I now live in Walsall, but would still like to see the Hall back to it's former glory.

I just came across some pictures of my sister in-laws which she's had
for a long time and wasn't sure how she ever aquired them. One is dated 1918 and is taken at a cemetary. Then one has seven men in uniform sitting in front of a one story garage type building. A barak?
On the back is written"Isolation Hospital". I typed it is to search and this is where I ended up. Is this a general term or this actual place?

How crazy, I have seen this before in person in an abandoned asylum that wasn't this one.

and flushed as I have said before I am not arguing the fact that some bad things happened. I am only trying to say that conditions had vastly improved during the 11 years I worked there. Was it perfect...no...but it also was not the hell hole that Bill Baldini depicted in his report. What people choose to not accept is that there were good things that also took place there. And just because group homes were established doesn't mean they are also without problems. You can be abused in those type of settings just as easily because they aren't monitored nearly as stringently as was Pennhurst . ( During the final 10 years anyway) What people also don't understand either is that what started out as a lawsuit to get better conditions , more staff, etc. turned into a whole other animal. Most of the parents I was in contact with did not support closing Pennhurst. That's not what THEY wanted. But a certain lawyer who wanted to make a name for himself took it one step further. Not all agreed with him but there was little they could do. They were pawns in a very nasty game.

As someone who was in a similar institution as a child I can assure you these things do happen and most employees do not witness them or know of them. After all the perps know it is wrong and take pains to hide it.

What you describe is familiar. The lack of policy is meant to cover for the fact that people just dumped family members they found embarrassing. Doctors willingly and often would sign papers if paid to,
The Follow you home remark should be more obvious to you as an adult but if it isn't the simple fact is people like that lack positive human contact and emotional interaction. Seeing a positive sign they go after it by instinct. This is how so many abused kids continue getting abused, they unknowing pursue kindness which makes them vulnerable to the unscrupulous.
