The different colors are for several reasons; to brighten the room, and because some patients had a tendency to prefer one color over others and so on.
seems like Oct is a good date for a rumor to demo but as history shows it's a fairy tale and PR wll tell ya the village has no money to do it - frankly if the rumor does come to fruition may it be next Oct when i can be there to see it but until that time ------ the old girl stands to face another winter
A lot of facilities would keep Doctors and/or nurses on sight.
I was conceived and born at Nevada (Mo) psych hospital Heartland Hospital. My mother was a nurse who lived on the top floor in a dorm type room and the male nurses lived in one huge dorm room much like this.
:) Now this is interesting to me... I looked at this photo and imagined the steel shining bright and clean, the brick/tile floors swept and mopped until they're shining and the kitchen bustling with white coated chefs, sous-chefs, preps, and wait-staff. In my mind, it's a kitchen waiting to be used, waiting for it's "family" to show up so it can be turned on again, it's not creepy at all - it's just in a holding pattern for now. This is what I think is so wonderful about art - everyone sees something totally different even though they're looking at the same thing!
Thanks Mr. Motts, for these amazing photos. You're living my dream and I'm happy to have the opportunity to enjoy it through your eyes.
Four years later a newby to the site says...
I love the contrast between the curved and straight lines. The hallway curves, the arch is curved, and even the board on the floor is curved - all of this is juxtaposed with the straight lines in the paint on the walls and the straight lines and 90 degree angles of the doors.
i remember walking down this hallway with a group of friends and we get in the middle and heard a baby scream.. we jetted out of there. we went back a few months after and we seen some people on the roof and they said they same exact thing happen to them
