The mural reminds me of roal dahl's book magic finger illistrations done by Quentin Blake. A beautiful shot representing diversity! i would love to go there some day and see it for my self, but for the moment this is the next best thing. Motts' passionate photography. So sad to see a part of my childhood and my father's childhood gone forever! My dad worked here during the depression doing odd jobs to get eggs, milk and such to help feed the family. His dad was terminally ill, he being the oldest of 5 siblings, would walk here and help out for food. I spent a good portion of my childhood around Eden Hall as well. ice skating on the pond or playing on the vast grounds surrounding the buildings.

I did a painting of this photo a few years ago :) it's my favorite out of the gallery. Went to Glenn Dale back in like 07 and it was absolutely breathtaking... my camera battery died not even ten minutes into our adventure which was odd because I had made a point to charge it up fully before going. I live in Carroll County and frequently would go to Henryton but never felt anything vaguely supernatural, then I came here. The basement in particular just had a thick, sad, eerie almost desperate feeling to it. My friend and I both got really cold, had an awful stomach ache and just felt really down without any explanation as to why after we explored the basement. Overall the trip was fantastic though. There were 5 of us and we didn't have any issues with security but that's not saying other people might. One of the best parts of the night was being out on one of the balconies and looking up at the sky and seeing a HUGE ring around the moon, and we were so high up looking over the grounds it was just beautiful. Anyways I'll shut up now I'm just a geek about this kinda shit :)

To Billy who was there in the late 40's. I was there in 1952 and was in a ward for girls on the second floor. Were you in the boys; ward on the first floor? This was before they built the Gaebler building. I often wonder what the name of our torture chamber was. Was it the medical building?

haha! i did the same thing with a long exposure at a graveyard at night and then posted the pic on my facebook to freak people out lol i came clean about a week later
