There could be ground water welling up through the pool by osmosis... along with the rain water. That could keep the level constant despite dry spells.

I´m sure the leftover "b" after "no entry" said "bitte klingeln" (please ring) so the round thing had been the button for a bell.

Last thing on that sign was something about a flee market. You must've been there within a year or two before it was completely torn down, it wasn't very long before that when the sign was still complete.
Typical CT, between the yuppies whining about noise and the plague of ghettos, everything of any interest gets destroyed.
Theres still a dozen or two active drive-ins in CT alone, just have to know where to look.

btw, the comment about the "nest of filth," really Virginia, you must get out more.

Please excuse me, I got caught up and neglected to mention what an incredible photo this is.
As many pictures as I've taken, I can get interesting shots, but they never quite have that certain "feel" as this. Makes the scene so familiar, yet leaves a sense that I've never seen it before, if that makes any sense.

For anyone who refuses to heed warnings, thought I'd throw in some advice from someone with experience in ignoring the warning signs.
Falling through a floor is more of a passive danger, and a preventable one at that.
The prevalent dangers are the nature of the beast, both human and animal. You don't know what any other living being is thinking. If you can't or won't (legally) exercise your 2nd Amendment rights, an l.e.d. mag-lite may serve you well in more ways than advertised.

Maureen, it's hdfxrd@hotmail.com. I knew you couldn't be much older than Kevin. He should be about 40 now. That's how old my sister would be. I never forget. I still remember first and last names of some of the patients and staff. My memories play in my head like a video. I don't have any pictures from when I was young, but I can still see it like it was yesterday.

Maureen, you are so right. They always did call me sunshine. I forgot all about that. I still get that from people saying I smile all the time. They nickname me Joker now. That's so funny and after 20 + yrs here we are. I'm so happy to be able to talk to you again. I was still there after you left. I missed you a lot. We used to talk a lot in the hallways. Feel free to email me HDFXRD@hotmail.com. I always wondered how you were doing. I remember you were going to Northeastern while working at Gaebler. You would read your books for school while working there. There was nothing much else to do while sitting in front of our room during quiet time. My sister remembers your brother as well as I do. LOL. I was in 1st grade and he was in 5th. Send me an email sometime. It was great hearing from you.

momto4, I know you. I never forgot your face. I seen you signed your name Maureen. Your name is Maureen Gil.... You can fill in the blanks. I didn't want to put your whole last name out there. You were my ICC. Your brother's name is Kevin. I know because my sister went to school with your brother at St. Charles in Woburn, Ma. You were nice to me. Lisa and Neil Chiso.. where also my ICC's. We went for walks together on the grounds. I had off ground privilages. My name is Veronica L. I remember you too Shane. I remember your face still too. Maureen, that place still gives me nightmares to this day. I try not to think about it. I ended up being a musician, playing throughout Boston, then a hairdresser, then went back to school, recieved my BSEE in 04 for electronic engineering. I'm also a motorcycle mechanic/painter that I do on the side. I moved to Fl. I came out ok, but it was a hard road from hell. Very hard.

This looks like my room. I believe it was the little girls dorm on ward A. That was were I was. There was an exit door that could not be opened on the other side and a exit sign up above it. I remembered jumping up and grabbing it to pick myself up and kick Matt the staff guy off of me before he grabbed me to restrain me for talking in the corner. Brings back bad memories. Glad it is gone.

I was on A ward. I use to rollerskate in the gym. I fell once and got sent to the hospital for stitches. I was in there early to mid 80's. Does anyone remember the game of the pats versus gaebler. I got to go to the game off grounds. I got the pats autographs too. That was the only good thing I could remember. John I remember Willie. He was real tall black guy with graying hair full beard. He was real nice. I still remember the names of the staff people on my ward. You remember when we went crazy when were not gonna take it by twisted sister came on. We all went off together. They eventually wouldn't let us listen to it. I remember the puke green mattresses. I used to stand it up against the wall and beat the shit out of it. I smashed my knuckles on the walls.
