That's "Art Deco" architecture, for ya. Either you love it, or hate it. When my family stayed here , I was just 6. I remember thinking it looked like an office building.

With that carpet, it's a good thing people usually don't have hangovers before going to the bar!

Reminds me of this lady my dad works with. One time, she was eating lunch in her office, and she spilled chili all over her typewriter and paper work!

Those ducts were probably put in much later after the building's completion. It was probably the best they could do without making a huge mess.

On the middle barrel, notice the half-obscured circular logo, with a 'D'. That is half of the Civil Defence (CD) logo. This organization issued air raid supplies to public shelters. FYI
