Motts, man is it good to see you back. You had us all worried so much, please don't go quiet for so long again. Thanks for the new gallery & the new look, it's awesome. Again, welcome back.
Christina, from your photos there, looks like another collapse could happen to the left of the chimney. The windows look like they are beginning to sag down somewhat. Do you concur or is it just the angle the photo was taken, making it appear that way?
wanderer, I too hope the end is not near for her. She has hung on this long, but time is not being kind to her & neither is the weather that she has to deal with. If she is going out, the old girl is doing it on her terms.
wanderer, how was she looking? I know sometime has passed since the photo here was taken, so, any big changes in her looks? How is she holding on as well, good or not so much? Sorry for the many questions, but as you said, a lot of us can't get to see her in person & we rely on you all that do get to see her, in person, for the info & stories about her.
Water tower? This is a water tower? Looks like a normal tower to me. What a good job at concealing what is really is by the builders & Motts, love the infrared shot choice. It really makes the photo stand out.
BritanyB, they do restrain infants & children in hospitals for their own safety & protection, as they do not know any better. Think about it, if you are a baby or a young child, you are exploring the world around you & learning things daily. With that in mind, you do not know pulling out an I.V. or trying to climb out of your crib or bed could threaten your well-being or life.
I know the thought of such action is disheartening & uncomfortable, but it is needed sometimes & parents know that long term, no real damage is done. The babies & children forget it & move on with their lives, hopefully happy & healthy for years to come.
What a shot of the building, very imposing view. It would give me chills to be led up to this place if I was a patient here during the time it was open. It looks massive enough in photos, I can't imagine what it looks like in person. The infrared use here is stunning, great choice Motts.
Why would they use or do shock therapy on T.B. patients to begin with? T.B. is mostly a respiratory illness, so how would that help treat or cure it? Everything I have read on T.B., nothing is brought up about that.
On another note, this building looks more like a military headquarters building than a hospital. The centered flag pole & the circle drive in front of it makes me think that. Neat looking place.
pat, you're welcome. I love to come on this site & see more from you on this place, the wonder that is Bennett. To everyone else that offers some insight on this place, please do no feel slighted that I have not thanked you too. So, to all of you, thanks, you too help keep her alive, if pat is the heartbeat, you are all the arteries & veins. So, again, thank you for all the info & insight you provide on the old girl. I do enjoy reading all the posts you all leave here on her.
wanderer, we will find something, another great relic of a time gone by to get into long chats on & hear insight by people close to them. However, it'll be nothing like Bennett, nor will it have pat ratchet or Celeste to give such wonderful commentary on the place.
pat, I have enjoyed your posts on this place, you I believe, have become the heartbeat of Bennett & keep her alive. Keep up the good work & I look forward to your next post. They are a joy to read.
