Such a beauty!
I've seen some of these "bed" type headstones and wondered the same thing. I obviously knew the body was well underground but such a different concept anyway.
Thanks for the history on those because I have seen them and wondered why someone would pick a molded tree stump for a headstone but not it makes complete sense. Now I'll be looking to see what items have been added to the stumps!
Some idiot probably did it. The things people won't do these days!
I know Eldokid, makes me mad too to see vandalism, period, but especially so in a cemetery where the dead rest. Knowing what I know, I wouldn't do that if I were them, lol.
Wow, that looks tall!
I love Gothic style crosses! The sky looks sinister in the right part of the picture, but it probably wasn't?
Foliage eventually making its way up one of these.
They should really get the kudzu off this statue, it is so worth seeing!
Creepy but I would have loved to see this in color! The green creeping up the statue.

Motts, was this atop someone's gave or just one of the many statues out there?
Wow, this really needs and deserves to be mantained
I would have loved to see this in color!
Pieces like this should be maintained and the grass kept cut around it. Hope it does't topple either
Yay, a cemetery! I love roaming through these, day or night, unless they are located near traffic or a noisy residential area, they are usually so peaceful, eerily quiet.
I agree with Angie-it's great that someone (you, Motts) gives us "regular" folks a chance to see the inside of these places. I would love to do urbexing! I'm more into the paranormal but this definitely is a second choice!
