I wonder what the penalties would be for breaking into a 40 year abandoned building.

This is the side I'm talking about since I know the photo I just sent is a little hard to see the building features, so hopefully this will show you where it is http://i159.photobucke...ions_zpsf7f5d44d.jpg

To answer your question, I don't care about the add-ons to the original 1890s structure. So I only brought up the white dorm room building as a point of reference. My only interest is the original 1890s structure and what alterations it has been given.

If you were looking at Halcyon Hall from the mowed field, this would be the left hand side of the building. This is the West Wing, I need the west side of the west wing photos. Particularly the stone walkway/steps, and the stone that goes up the side beyond the stairs further left and of course the wood features and roofing if possible.

and I'm sorry to say I've never actually stepped foot near this building. *sad*

So I managed to find a photo of the West Wing West Side. This is on the other side of the Dorm Room building, just next to the walkway. However, it is covered in greenery which is unfortunate and doesn't tell me much.

But this is the side that I want to see, if someone could please post pictures or links... would be nice.

Nice heart warming post Pat ^^

Speaking of Demolished buildings, during my analysis of Halcyon Hall's architecture, I came across photos of another Halcyon Hotel built around the same time as Halcyon Hall in Miami Florida. Also with a beautiful design. This building was demolished in the 1930s I assume for the land rather than its condition.

Photo of it being taken apart.

I wonder if Halcyon Hall would be taken apart so elegantly? Or just smashed to pieces? One wonders...

wanderer that isn't entirely true, sure alot of it would have to be replaced. But I've seen buildings that have been abandoned as long as Halcyon Hall, be restored.

If it meant our tax dollars went into restoring Halcyon Hall, I'd be all for it. I mean, it is money certainly better spent than mass tax cuts on the same rich who let her get this way from the start ( the newer deed owners )

It might even be possible to do just a structural restoration, for historical reference. They wouldn't even have to keep the entire building, maybe just the original primary structure? I wonder how much that would cost?

I have the floor plans of all floors except the basement. Also still need photos of the west wing side and east wing furthest building interior photos, particularly the side that is closest to the east wing primary structure.

Really? I had no idea about those. In all honesty I never seen the balcony in photos, the most I had to go off from was a floor plan which just looked like a U. I wasn't even sure if it actually existed. I really do love that dining hall though, it was definitely one of its best features... I hope there was a reason why they demolished it other than "expansion"

Thank you ^.^!

Oh the side stairs are my invention I think though :o in some places I implemented my own ideas for sake of creativity. I'd like to think my Halcyon Hall best represents what it would look like today had it not been abandoned.

Does anyone have any old/new photos of the furthest east building interior? I have a lot of trouble finding decent shots of its hallways and such. I consider part of it as the lobby to the music hall room.

Also any news on those recent photos of the west wing west side? Basement photos and floorplans?

Thanks again all, using cubes and squares and rectangles to make something isn't easy. I suppose the limitation of not being able to just recreate it exactly, makes it more of a challenge and inspires me to figure out ways to work with squares even more lol.

and again sorry for the video quality, I think it has something to do with java when recording. My other videos don't end up that way.

Christina Therese I am more comfortable with text I'm afraid but I'd be glad to make any statement on behalf of Halcyon Hall. Just feel free to email me mewimi [at] gmail [dot] com

Pat any photos of the basement would be greatly appreciated, particularly the basement floor plans would help even more hehe.

Also photos of the outer side of the West Wing that are of reasonable quality would be very nice. But again, I'm only interested in the 1897 Halcyon Hall, the additions made to it aren't really of particular interest. Thank you in advance! =)

Fortunately I completed that video, unfortunately youtube killed the quality and glitched the beginning lol. But I'm done messing with video formats for youtube's holiness for the month... so I apologize for the low quality.
