What you are looking at in this photo is the stairs midway between the 2nd Floor and 3rd Floor ( translation 3rd and 4th ) the central window that leads out to an inverted part of the building. There are many windows in this inverted part... I don't know if there is an official name for that particular architecture. But these windows are midway between every aboveground floor.

Also the window above, is actually a gable dormer.

Nice photo of the Music Hall Stage Christina ^.^ From a photo I saw recently, ( the opposite side of yours ) it would seem as if the fire place was removed long ago. Which is a shame, it was a nice one, maybe it was recycled and it still exists somewhere else in the world! That would be cool. Maybe it was just covered in debris... or maybe it was vandalized.

As for the fires, yeah I hate those people. They also try to use the nonfunctional fire places... ah well.

As for the low level basement, perhaps they were considering some type of geothermal system?

Flora I think you are correct, I remember reading something that seems similar to what Pat posted.

I think you are letting your imagination get away with you ;p visitors of abandoned buildings, namely vandals, jokers, artists, and video photographers do these kind of things for their own respective and not so respected purposes.

I don't think I've ever seen a photo of this science building ;p but 8 levels of stairs for a basement? That sounds odd o.O"

Hey Pat, glad to know the blue prints actually exist. I hope to see them someday. But if it isn't a huge inconvenience could you send me a crude sketch of the basement and sub basement floor plans? I don't need measurements, just the basic idea of where things are. I'm sort of OCD about this lol.

and thanks again for all the info you have provided thusfar~

PS: The security question asked me, "What does not belong: nurse, fish, bed, hospital" and while I know it is "fish" I believe most hospitals have a tendency to serve fish as food. Just something to think about.

Hi everyone I am still working on the final product of my minecraft house, of course I have many questions on what certain things looked like. At this point I could probably walk through the real thing blind folded, but there are some details I am still unsure about.

Pat, when you describe the balcony of the east east wing I half assumed the balcony was more of a square walkway with railings that had a view of the parlor floor plaza, and lead to the other doors and the rooftop balcony.

More so a similar shape to this photo

Also some issues with understanding what exactly the basement looked like, there is no photos that I can recognize that would give me even the vaguest idea. Was it just a typical basement? Damp musky wood beams and appliances? or was it a heavily decorated sub level floor?

Speaking of basement, was there once doors here? lol

Thanks pat :3 it is a guessing game but I've actually made many more accurate implementations to the minecraft version.

There is a larger room on the right side of the west wing just beyond the stairs, what room is this? The text is impossible to read from the scans lol. My best assumption is a kitchen.

On another note, do you have the roof level floor plans for the east east wing part of halcyon hall? ( thats what im calling ) Another thing I'm curious about is where it says "Balcony" on this part of the building, just as you walk in from the "Roof balcony" that is a bit confusing from the floor plans. I'm working hard on getting this side of the building a little more accurate. There seems to be an utter lack of photography of it.

Also... was there any video footage taken of the interior prior to 1978? Those should totally be converted and put onto youtube!

By the way pat, maybe you can help me. What purpose did the parlor room next to the Sitting Hall in the corner of the west wing have? Was this the library?

Judging on past pictures I have scene, even the ones on this page with doors stacked ontop of eachother, and school desks in one room. It is quite clear to me that the place was stripped, I suspect that anything of remote value was taken, there is literally zero evidence of the original work. Sure you have some wood paneling here, and some wood paneling there... but almost nothing left. Such a waste! :(

As for "stealing" a piece of Halcyon, I'd of taken one of those doors with the circle thing on it lol.
